Terminal 3 (T3) of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), New Delhi, is the first campus project to get PEER Platinum certified under the PEER v2 rating system in India. IGIA, managed by Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL – a consortium led by GMR Group) is the busiest airport in the country, handling more than 70 million passengers a year. This 5.4 million sq. feet terminal of IGIA is reported to be the eighth largest terminal in the world.

DIAL (T3) has already earned LEED Gold to showcase its leadership in environmental management and sustainable development. Moving towards benchmarking their electrical infrastructure, DIAL has proactively taken steps towards carbon emission reduction by adopting airport carbon accreditation, procuring offsite renewable power and installing onsite solar PV of 7.8 MW capacity.

PEER has helped DIAL in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, through increasing their renewable energy mix, assessing and reducing their power interruptions, and bringing transparency in providing quantitative and qualitative feedback on energy usage to their 680 customers through a secure online platform. Annually the project has achieved energy savings of 2.3 million units and a cost savings of INR 70 million ($ 970,000) through their energy efficiency measure and other sustainability initiatives.
